The Weight Thing: Day 28

Slept in. Had brunch at Brig's. I have no regrets! I had a French toast combo with scrambled eggs, home fries, a glass of unsweetened iced tea and iced water.

For dinner, Karen made lamb chops, eggplant, and a casserole with beans, tomatoes, and artichokes. I had black cherry creme soda with dinner. For dessert, we had a berry crunch.

While watching True Blood, I had an apple. Yum!

I've given up almost everything...and am working on walking as much as I can. Today the dog and I made it about 3/4 mile. I'm up somewhere near 3 miles a week. This has to be kept in the realm that I've lost 20lbs in last year-dropped a pant size while here in Florida (stress is great), and now the guy I am dating is older than me...but is in way better shape.

Jack is a history professor at St. Leo. I've known him for more than 12 years. We met because Lizzie got away from my advisor while I was in another office filling out papers or something-and she found his office. My advisor didn't care and didn't watch her as promised. Good thing Jack is a good guy. I found her on top of his lap at four years old, banging away on his computer, and he was laughing right along. I walked in and he said, "oh, you must be Elizabeth's mother." We've been friends since. When I came home I was kind of stunned he wanted to take me out-I asked,'you sure you know what you're getting into again?' We didn't date very much years ago...someone we all know was around. Yeah, that loveable columnist. Should have paid attention to Jack. My heart would have been safer.

Anyway, I slip back here into nothing. Jack's older than me (no surprise there), and he's biking 30 miles a week, teaches 90 students a day, and has a band. He plays in Time Warp, sings in a Barber Shop Quartet, and this past week he worked with the kids at SLU on Suessical. In the inbetween time he is with us-always taking us somewhere that involves theater or music for Elizabeth. I can't keep up with the guy. He's over a foot taller than me-and I can assure you he has to be 30lbs lighter. I'm too short and too round.

We are opposites in age, and height and weight, but when it comes to kindness, dignity, and a heart he has it all. When I left to get my things in Georgia he asked me to call and check in every bit of the trip-he worried about us.

So, off this weight goes...I got to keep up with someone else and my teenager and my dog...

Keep me posted. We're down to sugar free pudding and jello. My weekness is chocolate when we do wifi at the San An market. Mom has dial-up. Liz and I share a candy bar. I had a margarita last night (just one-not 5 like the old days with Glidewell). That was so good...and I don't think I could drink like the old days. I have to bring half of dinner home now.

Wish the scale was moving down again. It's stuck.
